Barya ang P100M! Lacson: Congressmen to get P700M each, Cayetano’s Deputy Speakers have P1.5B under 2020 budget
Contrary to Albay Rep. Joey Salceda’s claim, each of the 300 members of the House of Representatives won’t have P100 million to spend on pet projects under next year’s proposed P4.1-trillion national budget.
If Senator Panfilo Lacson’s initial information were to be believed, every House member will have a P700-million allocation while Deputy Speakers picked by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano will each have P1.5 billion.
Lacson shared the information he received Monday (September 23) at the heels of the House’s approval on third and final reading of the 2020 General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
“I hope that does not push through because that was a report transmitted to my office by some congressmen themselves. Na yan pinagusapan nila, para walang gulo, tig-P700M. When we are talking of P700M per congressman, times 300, that’s P21B. Plus P33B per Deputy Speaker kung matutuloy na P54B in pork,” he said.
Lacson, however, said he still has to validate the information on House members’ allocation as the House has yet to transmit the amended GAB to the Senate.
But even if House members’ allocations were only P100 million each, Lacson said the projects have to be specified in the GAB.
“Kung introduce pa lang nila as individual amendments, na bawa’t isa P100M, if it is not pork, I don’t know what it is,” he said.
