Barya lang kay Napoles! Flood control scam bigger than PDAF mess, Suarez says
By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN
The money allegedly looted by Janet Lim Napoles in the P10-billion pork barrel scam is just a mere “petty cash” compared to the P322-billion ‘flood-control scam’ being linked to Bugdet Secretary Benjamin Diokno, House Minority Floor Leader Danilo Suarez said.
“Petty cash ‘yung kay Napoles,” said Suarez when asked over the level of magnitude between the alleged irregularities in the flood-control projects and the pork barrel scam.
Suarez said corruption not only hampers the delivery’ of the needed public goods and services but also delays the progress of the nation.
“We are half way through President Rodrigo Duterte’s term and he is still cleaning up the government,” he said.
Suarez said the revelation linking the relatives of Diokno, including their construction firm after it was able to secure P550.8-billion worth of flood mitigation projects last year, were “inconsistent towards action that are reproachable.”
The House official earlier stressed that he will compel the rules panel under House Majority Floor Leader Rolando Andaya Jr. to issue an subpoena against Diokno if the budget chief will not heed to the invitation of the committee.
