Bato clueless on what to do as senator: May seminar ba d’yan?
Former Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa will have to put on training wheels when he starts his term as senator on June 30.
Dela Rosa candidly admitted he was clueless about making laws in an interview with CNN Philippines Tuesday (May 14).
Asked by News Night anchor Pia Hontiveros about the first thing he would do as senator, Dela Rosa said: “Ewan ko kung meron bang seminar dyan, or ano bang training dyan para matutuhan ko kung paano gawin ‘yung ng batas, kung paano gawin ‘yung trabaho sa senado. Kung merong ganon I’ll take that opportunity para matuto ako.”
Dela Rosa is poised to become a senator, with the Commission on Elections’ partial and unofficial tally showing him in fifth place with over 18.3 million votes.
Aside from attending seminars, the former PNP chief said he will also ask advice from incumbent Senators Koko Pimentel and JV Ejercito.
“Magtawag tawag ako kina Koko Pimentel, JV Ejercito kung ano ba talaga ang trabaho ng senador.. what do I need to prepare para pagpasok ko… hindi na ito katawa-tawa,” Dela Rosa said.
However, while Pimentel is likely to win his reelection bid, Ejercito’s fate remains uncertain as he’s currently in 13th place, based on the Comelec’s unofficial tally.
