Bato couldn’t care less if ABS-CBN shuts down: May ibang news outlets naman!
Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said Thursday (July 9) that he sees no widespread impact on the country in case ABS-CBN’s franchise application is denied.
Dela Rosa said the effect of the network’s shutdown will be limited to its employees.
“Wala akong nakikitang epekto. Epekto? Hindi naman ako apektado dahil hindi naman ako [taga-] ABS-CBN. Yung taga-ABS-CBN ang apektado,” he said.
Dela Rosa said other media companies can provide the content produced by ABS-CBN, such as news.
“Ako, wala akong nakikitang epekto dahil kung sabihin niyo mawalan din ng news, meron naman din yung ibang mga ibang news outfits na nagpe-perform. So, wala akong nakitang epekto, sa akin. Sa buong community as a whole, wala rin akong nakikita,” he added.
The House legislative franchises committee is expected to vote soon on ABS-CBN’s franchise application after 12 marathon hearings.
A denial of the network’s franchise application would mean the loss of its frequencies. It will also be unable to go back on free television until a new administration comes in.
