Former Philippine National Police Chief Bato dela Rosa was a virtual one-man wrecking crew of President Rodrigo Duterte against the Otso Diretso senatorial bets in Saturday’s TV debate.

From the water crisis to the drug war to the China debt trap, dela Rosa took the microphone to parry criticisms against Duterte’s policies.

At one point, during the give-and-take on the drug war, DeLa Rosa nearly lost his cool as he dealt with attacks from different flanks

“Paano ako makakalma, ang dami nila, ako lang mag-isa kaya kailangan ko bigyan diin, walo-walo sila,” said dela Rosa when he was being calmed down by CNN Philippines debate moderators. Dela Rosa found himself the only defender of Duterte against Otso Diretso bets Chel Diokno, Erin Tanada, Florin Hilbay, Samira Gutoc, Gary Alejano, and Romy Macalintal and former Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares.

Other candidates backed by Duterte such as Raffy Alunan and Senator JV Ejercito were not as rabid as dela Rosa in standing up for the President during the debate.

Dela Rosa said he would use his 32 years experience in law enforcement in crafting laws on peace and security:
