Bato laments visa cancellation: ‘Di na ako makakapanood ng laban ni Pacquiao!
Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is saddened by the rumored cancellation of his tourist visa by the United States government because he would no longer be able to watch the boxing fights of Senator Manny Pacquiao live.
Dela Rosa told reporters Monday (December 16) he has yet to receive official confirmation from the US embassy in Manila that his visa has indeed been cancelled.
However, he admitted to hearing rumors that his visa will be cancelled way back when he was chief of the Philippine National Police.
Asked if he felt bad about his visa cancellation, Dela Rosa said: “Sino ba masaya? ‘Di ko mabisita kapatid ko sa Amerika, mga pamangkin ko. ‘Pag may laban si Senator Pacquiao ‘di na ako makapanood so masama ang loob ko.”
The senator had watched a number of Pacquiao’s fights since becoming PNP chief in 2016, with the eight-division boxing champion footing the bill.
Politiko reported that the US government cancelled the senator’s visa in May this year. A source told Politiko that Dela Rosa’s visa was cancelled over his alleged involvement in the supposed extrajudicial killings of drug suspects as PNP chief.
Dela Rosa said he is considering formally asking the US embassy for the status of his tourist visa.
