Two opposition politikos are up in arms over former police chief and Senator Ronald dela Rosa’s supposed belittling of the death of a three-year-old girl during an anti-drug operation in Rizal.

Former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay and human rights lawyer CHel Diokno have slammed Del Rosa for commenting “shit happens” about the latest drug-related death and cried justice for the killing of Myka Ulpina.

Hilbay went further by encouraging the public to throw shit at Dela Rosa and other like-minded people over his latest statement.

“This is not the kind of mindset a legislator should encourage for policemen. This thinking breeds unnecessary harm and pain on citizens. It also justifies evasion of responsibility and accountability. Batohin ng S**t ang mga ganitong mag isip,” he tweeted.

Diokno, for his part, tweeted that he was one with the Ulpina family’s quest for justice for Myka.

“No, Sen. Bato, this is not “shit happens.” This happens when gov’t dispenses justice from guns instead of courts. Those responsible can never wash their guilt away. Their day of reckoning will come,” he said.

Del Rosa earlier defended the policemen involved in the operation that resulted in the death of Ulpina who was reportedly used as a human shield by her father Renato. “S**t happens during operations,” Dela Rosa said during a Senate press conference.

“Aminin ko sa inyo, mayroong nangyayari na talagang in the course of operations, honest to goodness na talagang may nagiging collateral damage,” he said.
