President Rodrigo Duterte will not certify the proposed Bayanihan to Recover as One Act as urgent “for now,” Malacañang said.

“We wish to announce that Malacanang will NOT certify as urgent the extension of the Bayanihan We Heal as One Act, for now,” Roque told reporters Thursday.

The Senate went on sine die adjournment for the first regular session of the 18th Congress Thursday afternoon without passing Senate Bill No. 1564 or the Bayanihan 2 bill.

The certification would have allowed the Upper House to approve the measure on third reading, doing away with the required three-day interval.

Earlier, Roque said there was no need for the President to call for a special session of Congress to pass the new Bayanihan law.

Members of the Senate and the House of Representatives have assured the passage of the measure extending the Bayanihan Act for three more months, he added.
