Vice President Jejomar Binay has been accused of resorting to dirty tricks, including paying off some celebrities, to bash his rivals and boost his presidential campaign during the bitterly contested elections.

Taguig City Rep. Lino Cayetano made the allegation after Binay finally conceded defeat to presidential frontrunner Rodrigo Duterte in the polls. Binay landed fourth in the five-way presidential race.

“Agree. then apologize and disclose details of black ops and celebrity payments,” Cayetano tweeted, reacting to a Philippine Star report on Binay’s call for unity and support for Duterte.

Asked by netizens to expound on the celebrity payments, Cayetano said certain celebrities/personalities accepted talent fee from Binay during the elections “to entertain/bash w/o declaring it as income.”

He said such celebrity payment was a “disservice to many in the ent industry who legitimately support and campaign for candidates they believe in.”
