BCDA denies Aetas displaced by New Clark City: Wala silang titulo!
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has denied that Aeta communities will be displaced by the construction of New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.
BCDA maintained in a statement Thursday (December 5) that that the new city’s location is its property under the law.
“There are NO declared ANCESTRAL DOMAINS or Certificates of Ancestral Domain Titles (CADT) in the area. Therefore, Aeta communities are not displaced,” said the agency led by Vince Dizon.
The group Sandugo – Movement of Moro and Indigenous Peoples for Self-Determination recently shared a letter given to residents of Barangay Aranguren informing them they only had seven days from November 29 to leave.
BCDA warned residents in the letter that the government will go after them and they will lose their right to seek compensation if they refuse to leave their community. Their homes will also be demolished.
