Davao del Norte Rep. Antonio “Tonyboy” Floirendo Jr. has been kicked out of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), despite being President Rodrigo Duterte’s biggest campaign donor.
According to an October 20 report from the Philippine Star, Floirendo and four others were expelled due to “disloyalty to the party and its leaders.”
Other personalities from Mindanao who were removed from PDP-Laban were regional party head Cesar Cuntapay, party founder Cesar Ledesma, former labor undersecretary Rogelio Garcia and one Noli Garcia.
Floirendo donated P75 million to Duterte’s presidential bid.
He, however, got into a feud with House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez shortly after the 2016 elections.
Their spat led to a congressional investigation of the deal made by Floirendo’s Tagum Agricultural Development Company (TADECO) with the Bureau of Corrections for the use of a land as a banana plantation.
