Belmonte Says DAP Milk Feeding Project Aboveboard

House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr. said yesterday there is nothing irregular with the implementation of the P229.6-million milk feeding projects of 52 legislators that was funded by the controversial Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP). “None at all, Iyung allocation ko was never used. Inabutan ng election ban and got returned to the treasury” Belmonte said. House Majority Floor Leader Neptali “Boyet” Gonzales II also indicated in a chance interview that there is nothing anomalous with the milk program as based on its implementation by a fellow legislator. Commission on Audit had earlier raised red flags over the P229.6-million milk feeding program, saying it was littered with “dubious signatures, conflict of interest in buying milk products and insufficient monitoring.” Meanwhile, Malacanang yesterday directed the National Dairy Authority (NDA) to respond to the findings of the COA. that claimed that the Assisi Development Foundation (ADF) had been given funds from the DAP for its milk feeding program. Secretary Hermino Coloma said the presidential sister (Viel Dee) is not the only one involved in the issue. “To be fair to those concerned, she’s not the only one allegedly involved. There are also lawmakers who were mentioned here,” he said. Manila Bulletin
