Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is sending a big shout-out to several broadcast journalists for supporting the government’s blended education method.
In a Twitter, Gatchalian recognized that these broadcasters, including Karen Davila, Jessica Soho, Korina Sanchez and Arnold Clavio, are communication experts and could effectively teach students through television.
“This is great news! Thank you to our broadcast journalist friends for lending your time & talent to educate our children,” he tweeted.
“You guys are the experts in communication. You are the best people to clearly teach what our children need to become better citizens of our country,” he added.
Gatchalian commented on a Department of Education message about the “multi-awarded broadcast journalists” who are joining forces for DepEd TV next month.
Among the #teacherbroadcasters are Kim Atienza, Kara David, Sandra Aguinaldo, Abner Mercado, Atom Araullo, Jacque Manabat, and MJ Marfori.
Paolo Bediones will serve as lead trainer while Luchi Cruz Valdez sits as senior trainer.
The education department has also tapped Issa Litton as grooming coach, Pocholo Gonzales as voice master, and Lyqa Maravilla as educational content creator and motivational speaker.
In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, the education department has endorsed the blended learning method, including online distance learning, modular distance learning, and TV/Radio-based Instruction. The government earlier suspended face-to-face classes to ensure the safety and health of students during the pandemic.
The start of the new school year has been moved from August to October this year to prepare for the alternative learning methods.
