Better sure than sorry: DOJ to prove narco politikos named by Duterte
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Friday (March 15) that he will order a probe against the politicians in the narco-list released by President Rodrigo Duterte.
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has already filed last Thursday (March 14) criminal complaints against those in the list before the Office of the Ombudsman).
“As soon as the DOJ receives the intel reports from the DILG/PDEA or copies of the complaints filed with the OMB, we shall commence our own criminal investigation,” Guevarra said
The initial list released which was provided by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) included 35 mayors, seven vice-mayors, one provincial board member and three Congressmen.
They are facing before the Ombudsman administrative charges of grave misconduct, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service, conduct unbecoming of a public officer, and gross neglect of dut
Even before Duterte released the list, Guevarra earlier said that he would instruct the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct the probe.
