When they face the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs’ hearing on the killing of Mayor Rolando Espinosa on Monday, drug distributor Kerwin Espinosa and Ronnie Dayan should think twice before giving false statements.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson, who chairs the committee, said Sunday the senators will be watching the body language of the resource persons to see if they are telling the truth.

“Pag sumasagot ang resource person o maski pag nagtatanong ang isang senador halimbawa, kami mapag-observe kami. Di lang ako pati kasamahan ko nag-o-observe kami ng demeanor, mga body movement, pati ang galaw ng mata, alam mo lahat yan pinagaaralan,” Lacson said in an interview on DZBB radio.

Lacson had worked as an investigator while in the Philippine National Police, an agency he headed from 1999 to 2001.

Also, he said the senators will use independent sources, testimonies and evidence to fact-check what the resource persons, including Espinosa and Dayan, would say.

“Bilang dating investigator ganoon ang gawi ko parang second nature maski impeachment ni late Chief Justice (Renato) Corona, inoobserve ko rin nag-observe ako. Tapos lahat na sinasabi verify ko sa pamamagitan independent na ebidensya o information para ma-check out kung totoo o hindi ang pahayag,” he said.
