The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has begun arrangements with the military over the deportation of United States Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton.
“BI agents are conducting a coordination meeting now in Camp Aguinaldo to discuss logistical preparations for Pemberton’s deportation,” said BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said on Saturday (Sept. 12).
“Required documents have already been submitted, but his final flight details and preparations for implementation have yet to be discussed,” she disclosed.
At the moment, Pemberton continues to stay at the Joint Military Assistance Group (Jusmag) in Camp Aguinaldo.
Pemberton has been detained at the detention facility of the Jusmag since his conviction in 2015 for the 2014 slay of a transgender.
He was eventually pardoned by President Rodrigo Duterte and set to be deported for being an undesirable alien.
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has already turned over to the BI the custody of Pemberton since Friday morning (Sept. 11).
