United States President Donald Trump has slammed the double standards used by fact checkers by directly linking them to fake news.

In a tweet posted Monday (February 11), Trump wrote: “‘Fact checkers have become Fake News.’ JesseBWatters So True!”

Jesse Watters is an anchor for Fox News.

Trump’s belief that fact checkers are linked to fake news rings true for the website Rappler, which Facebook picked to be a third-party fact-checker in the Philippines.

In 2017, Rappler Chief Executive Officer Maria Ressa wrote articles claiming that ISIS was behind the Resorts World attack which killed 37 people.

Police later found out that the attacker was a deranged serial gambler.

Despite the glaring error, neither Ressa nor Rappler apologized for the fake news they posted.
