Big decision to make? Sleep over it, Panelo tells Robredo

Malacañang wants Vice President Leni Robredo to give a “careful thought” to President Rodrigo Duterte’s offer for her to become drug czar.
“We advise the Vice President to reflect and give the matter a careful thought. Sleep over it. The challenge of meaningful public service necessarily involves a huge burden. Public office is a public trust,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
Duterte earlier appointed Robredo as co-chairperson of the inter-agency committee on anti-illegal drugs until the end of her term on June 30, 2022. He signed her appointment paper on October 31.
Panelo said they believe the Vice President is capable of “rising up to the challenge and doing justice to the trust reposed upon her by Filipino people, unless of course she proves us wrong by declining the appointment.”
The designation of Robredo, a staunch critic of the government’s anti-drug campaign, is a “golden opportunity worth taking,” the chief presidential legal counsel said.
“The Vice-President is welcome to the Cabinet… This is her moment. She should seize it. Destiny beckons. History awaits her,” he added.
