The Philippines is reaping more awards for its world class travel destinations.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat announced the country’s latest “big wins” in the World Travel Awards this year.
The country won the World’s Leading Dive Destination, beating other dive sites such as Azores Islands, Bora Bora, French Polynesia, Cayman Islands, Fiji, Galapagos Islands, Great Barrier Reef, Maldives and Mexico. Intramuros also bagged the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction in this year’s travel awards.
“Congratulations to the Philippines for winning two prestigious world titles in the 27th World Travel Awards!” she wrote on Instagram.
“This is the first time @intramurosph has won World’s Leading Tourist Attraction and the second time for our country to win World’s Leading Dive Destination🙏🏻” she said.
The tourism chief said they would continue to promote sustainable, inclusive and world-class tourism while the government gradually reopen more travel destinations in the country.
“Show the world #ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines by celebrating and sharing these big wins for the country!” she said.
