Bilib ako sa inyo! Duterte praises PNP a day after berating rogue cops
President Rodrigo Duterte recognized on Wednesday the police’s efforts to keep the country safe, a day after showering rogue cops with curses and a death threat.
In a speech during the Philippine National Police’s 117th anniversary at Camp Crame, Duterte said the police’s performance speaks well of efforts to institute reforms within their ranks.
Over the past two years, Duterte said the PNP has apprehended 160,000 illegal drug personalities and resolved 6,000 administrative cases as part of its internal cleansing initiative.
Furthermore, we have achieved a total crime solution efficiency rate of 72.13 [percent] — kaya ako sumasaludo sa inyo ako kasi bilib talaga ako sa inyo,” he said.
As a result of the PNP’s hard work, Duterte said the Philippines has a “very happy population” who owes the police a debt of gratitude.
On Tuesday (August 7), Duterte lashed out at 102 policemen facing various charges and threatened to kill them if they don’t mend their ways.
“Kayo ‘yung salot. Hindi ko maintindihan p— ina. Alam mo sa totoo lang, prangkahan ko ngayon ang buong Pilipinas, ‘pag ganun kayo ng ganun, p—ina_ papatayin ko talaga kayo. Masiguro ninyo ‘yan. Wala na akong magawa sa inyo mga ulol kayo,” he said in a speech in Malacañang grounds.
The police who faced Duterte had charges ranging from rape, kidnap for ransom, illegal drugs and grave misconduct.
