Billionaires Romero, Benitez top wealthiest House members
Port tycoon Mikee Romero of 1-Pacman party-list and Negros Occidental landlord Albee Benitez topped the list of wealthiest lawmakers in the House of Representatives, based on a summary listing of their Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
Romero maintained his status as the richest congressman with P7.86 billion in net worth as of December 2018, followed some distance away by Benitez, who declared P1.016 billion, according to the SALN list posted on the House website.
Following closely behind Benitez was former First Lady Imelda Marcos of Ilocos Norte, who declared P923.8 million in net worth.
Former Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. was fourth on the list with P864.75 million, while Manila Teachers party-list Rep. Virgilio Lacson was fifth with 793.87 million.
Marikina City Rep. Bayani Fernando had a net worth of P748 million, followed by Davao del Norte Rep. and banana tycoon Antonio Floirendo Jr. with P714.6 million.
Movie actress Vilma Santos-Recto of Batangas declared a net worth of P555.32 million, while Rep. Yedda Romualdez, wife of Speaker contender Martin Romualdez, declared P488 million in net worth.
Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was tenth with P479.55 million in net worth, based on the list.
