In fulfilling their mandate to further digitize services, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has coordinated with PESONet to allow Filipino taxpayers to sort their tax business online.

“Taxpayers filing their tax returns using the eBERForms and taxpayers mandated to use the Electronic Filing and Payment System can use the aforesaid online payment facility,” a BIR circular read.

In the circular, the revenue bureau announced that it will be making PESONet, an automated clearing house under the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) National Retail Payments System, available to the public.

Through PISONet, according to the BIR, taxpayers need only to create an account with any BSP-supervised financial institution within the system to be able to file their tax returns through the Lank Bank of the Philippines’ Link.Biz Portal.

The BIR expects PESONet to be a functional alternative to the traditional paper-based check system.

Also in the circular, the BIR said that the tax payment feature will be available to Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. customers first, with other banks following soon.
