Vice President Leni Robredo called on the Department of Education (DepEd) to consider allowing the conduct of face to face classes in communities with zero cases of COVID-19 due to community transmission.
In a radio interview Friday (September 25), Robredo said forcing blended learning on children in far flung communities might affect the quality of their education.
“Huwag i-limit sa blended learning lahat, kasi iyong sinasabi ko nga , in communities where there is zero community transmission, baka naman pwedeng magkaroon na ng face-to-face,” she said.
Robredo noted that there are coastal areas and farming communities which have not recorded COVID-19 cases.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said there will be no face to face classes until a vaccine for COVID-19 has been developed. Classes in public schools will start on October 5.
