Blogger tells Eric Yap to be thankful he’s exposed as ‘epal’: At least wala na pangalan mo sa building!
Blogger Jover Laurio said ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Eric Yap should be thankful that she made his thirst for publicity go viral.
In a blog posted Monday (September 14), Laurio responded to Yap’s remark that her face would be what COVID-19 looked like if it became a person.
“Una ang isyu, bawal kasi ang epal sa mga elected officials na gaya mo. It’s in the law po,” she said, quoting an excerpt from the “Revised Guidelines on the Naming and Renaming of Streets, Public Schools, Plazas, Building, Bridges and other Public Structures” from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
Laurio earlier posted a photo of Yap at the inauguration of the Benguet General Hospital’s molecular biology laboratory, which was called Eric Yap building. The blogger said: “Yung gusto mong tanggalin ang pangalan ni Ninoy Aquino sa NAIA, tapos yung isang building pinangalan sa ‘yo kahit buhay ka pa? Iba din ih.”
In response to Laurio’s post, Yap said he donated his money for the building’s construction. He, however, claimed he was clueless as to why the hospital’s management named the building after him.
Yap then said he already asked that the building be reverted to a generic name.
Laurio said she no longer minds the insult coming from Yap because it led to a change.
“Kahit pa sabihin mo ako na kamukha ng virus, wala naman sa isyu yun, ang importante ngayon pinaalis mo ang pangalan mo sa building na yan, kasi yun ang tamang gawin,” she said.
“Instead na laitin mo ako, dapat nga nagpasalamat ka kasi , when I called you out it led you to decide to do the right thing,” Laurio added.
