House Minority Floor Leader Danilo Suarez on Friday practically backed the pronouncements made by President Duterte, ordering his security forces to shoot at communist rebels bearing firearms.

“Meaningful ‘yung statement ng Pangulo. If I can read between the lines, when you are armed, you are prepared to fight. If you are unarmed, don’t shoot them,” Suarez, in a chance interview at the Senate, said.

“Basta armed, pagka may armas ka, normally naman talaga namang naka-ano ‘yun eh (ready to a firefight), kaya nga may mga kalyo na ang balikat ng mga pogi eh,” he said.

The lower house leader was at the Senate to attend the first bicameral conference committee meeting on the disagreeing provisions of Senate bill No. 1592 and House bill No. 5636, otherwise known as the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act.

The President, on Wednesday, made the statement as he revealed that an executive order would be issued declaring the New People’s Army (NPA) as a terrorist group.
