Bong Go hits bashers using nCoV to spread fake news: Kayo dapat i-quarantine!
Senator Bong Go took a swipe Tuesday (February 4) at netizens who use the threat of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) to spread fake news.
Go said bashers and critics are welcome to attend the Senate committee on health’s hearing on the 2019-nCoV to know accurate information about the virus, which the World Health Organization recently declared as a global health emergency.
“’Yung mga panay dada naman diyan para lang makapagsalita, mga bashers na sumasakay sa sitwasyon para sa pansariling interes, mga taong gusto lang magdulot ng panic, at mga nagpapakalat ng fake news, kayo ang dapat i-quarantine para hindi kayo makahawa,” the senator said at the start of the hearing.
Go appealed to netizens to refrain from sharing fake news about the 2019-nCoV so people won’t panic.
“Sa mga panahong tulad ngayon na ikinakakaba natin ang magiging kalagayan ng ating pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay, dapat ay mas lalong magtulungan tayo. Magkaisa at magbayanihan tayo para sa ikabubuti ng bawat Filipino,” he said.
Go assured that President Rodrigo Duterte prioritizes public health when he makes decisions related to the 2019-nCoV
“Binabalanse niya lahat. That is why we elected one leader. We chose one leader to decide and to lead our country especially in these trying times,” he said.
Several Cabinet members attended the hearing led by Go to brief senators on what their respective agencies are doing about the 2019-nCoV threat. Among those present were: Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Education Secretary Leonor Briones and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.
