Bongbong still licking wounds? Robredo keeps mum a day after PET’s action on poll protest: Marami na akong nasunog!
Vice President Leni Robredo refrained from giving a lengthy interview to the media Wednesday (October 16) after she faced them in a press conference following the Supreme Court’s decision to defer the issuance of a ruling on the poll protest filed by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Robredo’s reason? She may have already scalded too many people with her statements at Tuesday’s (October 15) press conference.
When reporters pressed her for an interview at the sidelines of the launching of the Ziya Artisan Collection at the SM Mall of Asia, the Vice President said in jest: “Hindi na kasi marami akong nasunog kahapon eh. Na-trauma na ako pagkatapos.”
Robredo curtly said she expects her lawyers to get a copy soon of the report on the initial recount of ballots in three pilot provinces identified by Marcos in his poll protest.
The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), ordered the camps of Marcos and Robredo to comment on the report within 20 days of receiving it.
In Tuesday’s press conference, Robredo took a swipe at Marcos after the former senator said he was “robbed” of the vice presidency.
“Parang dapat hindi niya kaya yun sabihin. Between the two of us hindi ako yung robber,” she said.
Robredo also expressed frustration why Marcos can’t seem to accept his defeat.
“Tapos na ‘yung eleksyon. Prinoclaim tayo ng Kongreso, panalo tayo. Nagkaroon ng recount, panalo uli tayo. So ilang panalo pa ang kailangan para maniwala siyang hindi siya ‘yung nanalo?” she asked.
