Bongbong’s camp shrugs off Robredo’s bigger lead: Recount shows she has mole in SC
The camp of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has expressed concerns that a “highly placed” official at the Supreme Court (SC), sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), has been favoring Vice President Leni Robredo.
Lawyer Vic Rodriguez, the legal counsel of Marcos, pointed this out considering that Robredo has been celebrating even before the PET released the results of the recount of ballots in the pilot provinces of Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental.
“It only confirmed our suspicion that Mrs. Robredo’s premature celebration and claim of another fake victory in the Tribunal was a product of advance information she’s been receiving all along through a highly placed deep throat,” he said in a statement.
The PET conducted the recount based on the poll protest of Marcos who himself selected the pilot provinces.
In its latest ruling, the PET disclosed that “based on the final tally after revision and appreciation of the votes in the pilot provinces, protestee Robredo maintained, as in fact she increased, her lead with 14,436,337 votes over protestant Marcos who obtained 14,157,771 votes.”
“After the revision and appreciation, the lead of protestee Robredo increased from 263,473 to 278,566,” it added.
Rodriguez believes this is the reason why the PET did not dismiss the poll protest “finding the figures presented before them to be outrageous and ordered the election protest to proceed with the parties to file their Comment and Memoranda.”
With a vote of 11-2, only Justices Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa and Antonio Carpio disagreed with the action and insisted that the PET should have already dismissed the poll protest.
