It seems Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has a cryptic message for congressmen as the House leadership under Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano is currently in hot water over the mishandling of preparations for the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG).
In her Instagram post, it looks like Duterte is taunting legislators for not listening to her and they deserve the leaders they choose.
“‘I told you so’ is a sure-fire way to kick-start and argument. In the same way, ‘you do not listen’ will ignite a conversation into a heated one,” said Duterte.
“May I just say to everyone in Congress, ‘I told you but you did not listen so there you go’,” she added.
The Presidential daughter didn’t further elaborate her message, but the Hugpong ng Pagbabago chairperson strongly opposes the term-sharing for the House leadership between Cayetano and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.
The Davao City Mayor and here influential political entity earlier has reportedly supported Velasco’s speakership bid prior to term-sharing with Cayetano which was forged by President Rodrigo Duterte himself.
Cayetano is currently under fire not only here in the country but also in the international circuit following the reported mishandling and corruption allegations on the Philippines’ SEAG hosting.
The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) chaired by Cayetano on Sunday already issued an apology for the series of accommodation mishaps suffered different groups of Southeast Asian athletes that will compete in the football tournament starting Monday, November 25.
With Cayetano in bad light, has Mayor Duterte finally seen an opening to eliminate once and for all, his father’s former running mate and stage another leadership scuffle in the Lower House?
