President Rodrigo Duterte might have met United States President Donald Trump a few times, but they click together like they’ve been friends for a long time.
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the rapport between the two leaders is so great the strained relations during the time of former US President Barack Obama appears all but forgotten.
“Of course, we are dealing with a different US administration now and you can see through the two leaders’ body language that they really hit it off,” he said at the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit Monday (November 13).
Andanar said the good ties between the two Presidents began when Duterte called Trump to congratulate him for winning the US elections in November last year.
The Palace official said Trump seems to “really loves the Philippines.”
“President Trump was game and allowed us to take selfies with him before the Gala Dinner. He really took the time to talk to us,” Andanar said.
