The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) continues to release surrenderers as it is set to free 37 more, said Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete.

“The Oversight Committee has approved the release of 27 PDL (persons deprved of liberty)-surrenderers and 10 more or a total of 37, per recommendation by the Joint Task Force,” he disclosed.

“This fourth batch of 37 individuals, once released by BuCor (Bureau of Corrections), should bring the total released PDL-surrenderers to 124,” he added.

There have been a total of 2,221 freed inmates who surrendered after heeding the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to turn themselves in.

The order was made due to concerns that among the inmates freed because of good conduct time allowance (GCTA) were undeserving prisoners including heinous crimes convicts.
