Bulilyaso si Bato! Comelec: Dela Rosa may be in trouble over movie
Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa may be liable for an election offense if a biographical fim about him is shown during the campaign period for the May elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Sunday (January 6).
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said Dela Rosa and the people behind the movie must make sure it is shown before or after the campaign period.
Jimenez said charges for violation of the Fair Elections Act may be filed against the former PNP chief and the people behind the movie if it is shown when the campaign season is in full swing.
“Whether or not there’s a boycott, there will still be a violation of election rules,” he said.
The campaign period for those running for national positions for the midterm elections will start on Feb. 12 and end on May 11.
Actor Robin Padilla will play Dela Rosa in the film titled, “Bato: The Gen. Ronald Dela Rosa Story.” It is set to be shown this year though the exact release date remains unknown.
