Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov described as “groundless” the reports about the alleged contacts between Russian intelligence officials and the campaign aides of US President Donald Trump.
Peskov also urged the public not to rely on unnamed sources.
“Let us not believe in what media say, for nowadays it is very difficult to tell actual news from fake ones,” a February 15 report by the TASS Russian News Agency quoted the spokesman as telling reporters.
The New York Times earlier reported that “in the year before the election,” Trump campaign aides and other associates had “repeated contacts” with the intelligence officials.
It cited four incumbent and former US officials as sources.
