Busog sa pag-ibig! Imee Marcos suggests rice over flowers as Valentine’s Day gift
Senator Imee Marcos advised lovers Thursday (February 13) to give a sack of rice instead of flowers to their significant others on Valentine’s Day.
Marcos made the call upon learning that a bouquet of flowers can cost as much as P4,000.
“Jusko ano ba yan, mukhang hindi na praktikal ang pagbibigay ng bulaklak kung ganyan rin lang naman ang presyo. Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon, mas mabuti siguro kung ibang bagay na lang ang ibigay tulad ng bigas,” she said.
Ahead of Valentine’s Day, roses are being sold in Dangwa, Manila for P100 to P150 apiece if they’re from Baguio. The retail price for a bouquet of roses from India is between P600 and P800 while Malaysian mums cost between P150 and P200.
Unique bouquets such as one including face masks and sanitizers are being sold in Dangwa as fears over the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) run high.
