Calida gets personal, dares ABS-CBN reporter to face him in court: Mag-abogado ka na lang!
Solicitor General Jose Calida showed his personal dislike for an ABS-CBN reporter just after filing a quo warranto petition against the network to revoke its franchise.
Mike Navallo, who covers the justice beat for ABS-CBN, joined other reporters in asking Calida for a copy of his petition after filing it with the Supreme Court Monday (February 10).
You’re a lawyer? You’re from Cagayan de Oro?” Calida asked Navallo.
The reporter responded: “Surigao, why sir?”
“Because I’m also from Mindanao,” said Calida, who is from Davao City.
As Calida set to leave the Supreme Court, he told Navallo: “Lagi mo akong binabanatan. Abogado ka rin pala e.”
Navallo replied: “Sir, I’m just doing my job. It’s part of the story.”
“Practice ka na lang, baka magkita tayo sa court,” Calida remarked.
It was Navallo who broke the story last year that the Office of the Solicitor General helped in drafting the affidavit of Peter Joemel Advincula alias “Bikoy,” who tagged opposition members in a supposed destabilization plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.
