Can’t find an N95 mask? DOH: Use bra, panty

Amid the high demand for N95 masks, the Department of Health (DOH) encouraged innovative ways of protecting individuals from volcanic ash.
In a media briefing in Malacañang on Tuesday, Asec. Maria Francia Laxamana said those affected by the Taal event may use brassieres or panties to cover their mouths and noses.
“Meron pa ibang creative ways of doing things. Isa po yung kamiseta, ilagay niyo po. Meron pong isang creative, yung bra at panty,” said Laxamana.
If worse comes to worst, the DOH official noted that diapers also provide respiratory protection.
“Ang diapers open so pwede po siya. Actually kung tititngnan niyo ang mga diapers merong dry. Puwede niyong basain ng konti para hindi kayo ma-suffocate. Para talaga ma-obstruct. Puwede niyo ilagay sa ears. Mapuprotektahan yung tenga at nose and mouth. Yung velcro puwede ilagay sa likod,” she explained.
