KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said her father President Rodrigo Duterte’s style of lambasting his critics, including members of the opposition and the clergy, won’t change anytime soon.

The mayor’s statement came following the President’s fresh attacks against senatorial candidates from the Liberal Party-led opposition coalition Otso Diretso.

“I do not think magbabago pa yan. You cannot really teach an old dog with new tricks especially sa character ni President Duterte,” said Mayor Duterte.
She stressed that his father is someone who can’t be told what to do.

“The President is someone na hindi mo masabihan kung ano yung dapat niyang gawin. He has been like that since mayor of Davao City especially during campaign namin,” she said.

The President, in the final stretch of the campaign period, has been calling opposition candidates using highly-offensive remarks.

In his speech during PDP Laban’s proclamation rally in Tuguegarao City, the President has taunted former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay for supposedly pretending to be the boyfriend of actress and staunch Duterte critic Agot Isidro just to hide his alleged homosexual tendencies.

“Florin Hilbay is a lawyer. But he’s gay. His girlfriend is Igot Isidro. They’re always together. Agot rather, not Igot. Do you think he’s gay? I don’t have a problem with gays, but this particular gay is a bully,” said President Duterte.

The chief executive added that “God make a mistake” when he created the former solicitor general.
