Former Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño is opposed to the planned mandatory Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program for senior high school students.

Casiño, in a post on Twitter, said he only learned to follow orders like a robot when he underwent military training in school.

“Two years of ROTC did not instil in me any sense of patriotism, service or discipline. It just taught me how to follow orders like a robot. Not something I would want my kids to go through,” he tweeted.

The House of Representatives recently approved on third and final reading a bill reviving ROTC for grades 11 and 12 students. The Senate has yet to pass its version of the bill.
