House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano on Monday said he plans to “confront” former Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero and Negros Oriental Rep. Arnie Teves about certain business practices in which the two allies of Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco allegedly used their position as congressmen for illegitimate purposes.
The Taguig lawmaker did not give details on the alleged practices by Romero and Teves, only saying he would confront them at the proper time.
Romero of 1-Pacman party-list was removed from his post as deputy speaker last Friday. Teves, meanwhile, accused Cayetano of cornering P11 billion in the public works funds for his district despite its small size.
“This is not a battle of budget, this is a battle of values. May kasamahan tayo na iligal o illegitimate ang mga negosyo or iligal ang business practices,” Cayetano said.
“Sa tamang panahon po kapag natapos ang budget, I will confront former Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero and Cong. Arnie Tevez sa kanilang business practices at yung paggamit nila ng pagiging kongresista para sa illegitimate o iligal na mga gawain,” he said.
“Alam ng mga kongresista yun. Nung mag-umpisa kami, sabi ko gagawin ko lahat para sa inyo pero walang holdapan, walang korapsyon, walang parking, walang pork,” Cayetano said.
