Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza on Saturday admonished House Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano to “stop creating a scenario of uncertainty” in the issue of the speakership, saying it was the Taguig-Pateros congressman who was the one trying to get out of the deal with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.
“Stop doing that Mr. Speaker. Pag sumira ka sa salita mo, sira ka,” the former Manila mayor said.
Atienza said Cayetano should “stop creating a scenario of treachery and an attempted coup,” after the latter accused Velasco of orchestrating a plot to oust him but promising chairmanships and additional budget to supporters.
“There is no such thing, Mr. Speaker. You are creating the problem. There is no problem,” Atienza said.
He said Velasco, “in his common sense, will not attempt anything because all he has to do now is wait until October when your term ends—that is, if you follow the gentleman’s agreement.”
“Usapang lalaki yun. You’re now meeting with the different party members and you are creating a gap between you and Congressman Velasco,” Atienza said.
“Does this mean that you are preparing to disengage from the gentleman’s agreement in sharing the House Speakership?” he added.
Atienza stressed that Cong. Velasco is not doing anything to seize power from Cayetano.
“Congressman Velasco is not doing anything and has nothing to gain if he stages a coup. All he has to do is wait. Hanggang October lang,” he said.
