House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano announced on Thursday a plan to form a new House committee to “look over” the government’s flagship infrastructure projects in response to criticisms of delays and unmet promises involving the massive Build-Build-Build program.
The Taguig lawmaker said senators who were criticizing the slow progress of the BBB projects were within their rights to point out shortcomings, but pointed out that the House wished to be more constructive.
“But kami sa House, we will put Cong. Charlie Cojuangco (of Tarlac) as head of a new committee, committee that will look over flagship programs and projects and the duty will not only be to criticize but also to propose paano mapabilis and even for Congress to be able to propose as an institution other flagship programs,” he said.
“So I’m confident of the Build, Build, Build program, ang problema nga ay you can’t build overnight but this year, next year, and the last year of the President, 2022, makikita niyo ang resulta ng Build, Build, Build,” Cayetano said.
The Speaker was a guest at the 45th top level management conference of the Kapisanan ng nga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas in Tagaytay City.
