Cayetano on Congress bid: It’s time to come home to Taguig and Pateros
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Cayetano is eyeing a return to the House of Representatives in the upcoming elections.
Cayetano, in a Facebook post, thanked President Duterte for giving him the opportunity to serve as DFA chief, and promised to continue to fulfill his campaign promises in the event he wins a congressional seat.
“It is time for me to come home to Taguig and Pateros. Although I never left and continue to live in Bagumbayan, Taguig, I have missed the daily intertwined life with my neighbors and brothers and sisters in Taguig and Pateros,” he said.
“I promised the President that I and the Cayetanos will support him from Day 1 to the last day of his Presidency and, of course, even beyond that. I have always believed that President Duterte’s success is the success of the whole country,” he added.
He also expressed gratitude to the Cabinet members who “mentored me but also fully supported my leadership at the Department of Foreign Affairs.”
He also thanked the DFA men and women who “do all the heavy lifting and get things done.”
“I thank the many members of the Senate and the House who as early as last night have welcomed my possible return to Congress and expressed their unconditional support,” he said.
“Through GOD’s Grace, if given the opportunity, let us fulfill President Duterte’s campaign promises. Let us Change The World! Let us start with the Philippines! ” he added.
