Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete on Wednesday (Dec. 11) expressed optimism that consumers get a better deal as a result of the renegotiated concession agreement with water concessionaires Manila Water and Maynilad.
“Baka magkaroon ng magandang kalalabasan ‘yung renegotiations if they are willing to go into that renegotiation proceedings,” he said during an interview over DZBB.
“We were hoping na before the end of the year sana, if ever magkakaroon ng usapan, sana ay matuloy ‘yung usapan na ‘yun para magkaroon ho ng kalinawan tayo, ‘yung solusyon na ilalatag natin,” he added.
The spokesman made this point after the two firms declared that they have decided to drop the P10.8 billions claims against the government.
Earlier, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said a team will be formed to draft the revised concession agreement which will be presented to the water firms.
