MANILA, Philippines – Former governor Chavit Singson, one of the most influential politicians and successful businessmen in the north, said he could have done more for the people of Ilocos Sur if he pursued of getting good education.
In a television interview aired over GMA’s Bawal ang Pasaway, Singson showed his soft side and urged the younger generation of getting a college degree above all options in life.
“I could have done much more para sa mga tao; it’s very, very important in life,” said the former Ilocos governor, who also owns more than a hundred companies here and abroad.
While he worked his way up in politics and business through sweat and blood, Singson said it could have been much easier if he graduated from college.
“Ang pera mawawala ang bahay nawawala, ang ari-arian nawawala pero ang education hindi nawawala,” he said.
While he started his business when he was young, he said he could have pour more interest in attending school.
“Masipag ako nung bata pa ako nagtra-trabaho na ako nagtitinda na ako ng mani at softdrinks sa sinehan namin. Sa magkakapatid ako lang ang nagtitinda sa sinehan namin. Pero importante sa lahat ng tao tapusin ang pag-aaral hanggat may pagkakataon,” he said.
