Anyone who bets P100 that the impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno would not succeed stands a chance of winning P1000 from abogado Larry Gadon if their prediction ends up correct.

“Meron na nga akong pustahan eh. P100, talo P1000 eh. Right now, I can take a bet. Yeah. Kahit hindi ako mahilig sa gambling ha. Pero I can take a bet. P100, ang tatamaan P1000,” said Gadon, who is the complainant in the impeachment case lodged against Sereno at the House Committee on Justice.

Gadon said he is confident his impeachment complaint will lead to the ouster of Sereno as he claims that evidence and testimonies of Supreme Court (SC) justices against her is strong.

“The testimony of the justices themselves, sobrang tibay! Maliwanag na maliwanag ang culpable violation of the Constitution,” Gadon said at a news conference in Quezon City on Thursday (January 11).

He specifically cited Sereno’s creation of a Judiciary Decentralized Office in Visayas, which was questioned by SC Associate Justice Teresita De Castro for allegedly circumventing the En Banc.

De Castro was among the SC justices who appeared at the House Committee on Justice hearings to testify on matters brought up in the impeachment complaint.

Retired Associate Justice Arturo Brion, along with Associate Justices Francis Jardeleza and Noel Tijam, also appeared to testify in the impeachment hearings.

Several justices are also set to appear before the House Committee on Justice to deliver their testimonies.

“Maraming mga justices na maga-appear and marami pa silang masasabi na mga ebidensya, mga testimony nila, mako-confirm ang aking grounds for impeachment,” Gadon said. “Natutuwa nga ako dahil dumami na nang dumami.”

Asked how he expects the justices to testify at the impeachment hearings which resume on Monday (January 15), Gadon said, “Naughty as against Justice Sereno and nice as towards Atty. Larry Gadon.”
