Credible award ‘to! Cayetano ‘humbled’ by Best SEA Games organizer recognition
The committee’s hard work in organizing the regional games is supposedly paying off despite the deluge of criticisms it received for some logistical lapses.
Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has expressed gratitude to the Sports Industry Awards Asia for awarding his committee as the best organizer of the Southeast Asian Games. Cayetano heads the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC).
“Thank you Sports Industry Awards (SPIA) Asia for awarding the 30th South East Asian Games as the best SEAG organizer. The awarding was held during the SPIA conference held yesterday, December 3 at Grand Hyatt Manila. It was an honor to be joined by CEO of SPIA Eric Gottschalk, Rep. Abraham Tolentino (POC Chair), PHISGOC COO Ramon Suzara, International Football Legend Ronaldo Nazario and USA Track and Field Olympian Dr. Edwin Moses,” he wrote on Facebook.
“The SPIA Asia Awards have become the most credible awards platform in Asia, focused on recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the Asian Sports Industry. We are humbled by this recognition and we will strive to keep the momentum going for the country,”he said.
The award was given after President Duterte ordered an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the regional games including allegations of corruption and incompetence. Duterte was dismayed by the mishaps that affected some athletes.
