The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases did not fail in its response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, Malacañang said Wednesday.
Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon had said the IATF has failed to effectively prevent the spread of the virus, citing the rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 cases each day.
Drilon also instructed the IATF to review their performance and find out how they can be more effective.
“I don’t think we failed for as long we did not meet the 3.5 million projection of (University of the Philippines),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in an interview on CNN Philippines.
Roque likewise appealed to the opposition to stop politicking in the middle of a health crisis
“We will always have different points of view particularly coming from the opposition, and I think they’re resorting to politicking,” according to the Palace official.
“The appeal of the President is to concentrate on Covid-19, set aside politicking for the time being, which I think is a very wise policy,” he concluded.
