Dadali ang trabaho! Ombudsman: House’s findings on tobacco fund misuse to speed up probe on Imee

Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos is currently the subject of an investigation by the Office of the Ombudsman over her alleged involvement of the alleged misuse of tobacco funds.

“It’s under fact-finding investigation,” outgoing Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales confirmed on Thursday (July 12).

The House of Representatives has already conducted a probe over the issue and has recommended the filing of charges against Marcos.

Morales has welcomed the House findings over the matter and has assured to use these in the ongoing investigation.

“It will accelerate the finding of facts that have a bearing on the investigation,” she said.

The Commission on Audit (COA) had issued a report that P66.45 million worth of tobacco funds got misused.

Local officials had allegedly made illegal cash advances from the fund for the purchase of minicabs, buses and mini trucks.
