Dadami na sila? LP solons in Supermajority to make ‘magnificent’ switch
Looks like the “Magnificent 7” in the House of Representatives (HOR) will undergo a numerical upgrade soon.
This, as sources told Politiko that some Liberal Party (LP) members in the Supermajority bloc are looking to defect to the Magnificent 7, which is the paltry but vocal opposition faction in the Lower Chamber.
Politiko got wind of this information even as Vice President Leni Robredo, interim chairman of the LP, began a series of closed-door meetings with party stalwarts Thursday, April 20.
Of the 32 LP members in the HOR, five are with the Magnificent 7. They’ve been consistently critical of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.
Meanwhile, the 27 other LP congressmen in the Supermajority have more or less toed the line with the PDP-Laban, the ruling party, so far this 17th Congress. PDP-Laban is chaired by Duterte.
The source didn’t say how many LP members in the Supermajority will make the jump to the opposition.
