President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the Salary Standardization Law (SSL) 5, a new measure that will grant salary increases to government employees.
On Wednesday evening, Malacañang released photos of Duterte signing the Salary Standardization Law of 2019 that aims to raise the salary of state workers from 2020 to 2023.
Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, a longtime aide to the President, witnessed the signing of the measure.
Under SSL-5 the salary adjustment will be given in four tranches beginning January 2020. It will increase the basic salaries by a weighted average of 23.24 percent upon completion by 2023.
The new law is set to benefit around 1.4 million government employees, particularly those under Salary Grade 11 to 19, including teachers and nurses.
